The Wonders of Cosmetic Dentistry

The wonders of cosmetic dentistry includes the basics such as tooth whitening, different colored fillings, invisible braces, bridges, cosmetic dentures, crowns and veneers but cosmetic dentistry now extends to new life changing techniques such as implants and smile design.

For myself, ongoing developments in cosmetic dentistry world have provided me a viable, all be it expensive, route to avoiding a gummy toothless smile. Having lost most of my teeth as a result of sjogrens syndrome, and lacking the saliva to go down the traditional route of plates, cosmetic implants have proved to be just the answer I need.

Cosmetic dentistry can also be used to straighten teeth, fill gaps, replace teeth, whiten teeth and improve the general appearance of teeth. And now you can even have tooth jewellery in the form of gems, gold or silver which are stuck onto your teeth using dental cement.

Nowadays it’s not the disaster it used to be whatever happens to your teeth especially if you have the basics covered financially through a dental care plan (dental insurance plans cover necessities such as the loss of a tooth and the need for a crown but not the finer elements on the cosmetic dentistry ‘wish’ list).

If you want to go down the route of cosmetic dentistry there are many good cosmetic dentists around but you must take care that when looking to improve your teeth you go to the right person for the job. Although general dentists are excellent in their field cosmetic dentistry is a whole new world and requires experience in the specialized techniques.

Pure (not necessity) cosmetic dentistry doesn’t come cheap with invisible braces (full set) costing between $4,500 and $8,000, as white surface filling setting you back as much as $250 and the cost of dental implants averaging around $1,500 to $2,000.
