Like all tooth whitening processes zoom tooth whitening is a completely painless procedure.

Zoom tooth whitening is a laser tooth whitening process which is popular with cosmetic dentists.

Zoom tooth whitening is far quicker and more effective than other professional tooth whitening processes with the whole procedure taking around an hour and generally leaving you with teeth several shades lighter than traditional bleaching.

The Zoom tooth whitening system uses a hydrogen peroxide based tooth whitener with the gel consisting of 32% hydrogen peroxide and a proprietary activator that, when mixed with the gel, creates a hydrogen peroxide concentration of 25%.

The zoom tooth whitening process uses a mercury metal halide laser light which is specific to the zoom system and believed to enhance the whitening effect. The zoom light unit has an infrared filter which helps to reduce the amount of heat generated during the whitening process. The Zoom bleaching light is placed in such a position as to allow all teeth to be treated at one time.

Prior to the tooth whitening treatment the dentist will spend a short time isolating the patient’s lips and gums. Once the lips and gums have been protected from the bleaching process a whitening gel is applied which is then activated using the mercury light. In order to achieve maximum effect zoom tooth whitening is broken down into 3 bleaching sessions of 20 minutes a piece so, after the first application, the whitening gel will be applied twice more with both sessions being for a further 20 minutes.

Following the treatment patients are supplied with an additional tray based whitening product for the tooth whitening process to be continued at home.

You will find that your teeth will generally be eight to ten shades lighter following the zoom tooth whitening process and, with the correct care and attention, you will see the benefit for several years.
